Once again, our 2nd graders are working with Elves of Hope. The organization will deliver 100 bags to local hospitals & to patients who are fighting cancer. The bags will have items like shawls, hand-beaded ornaments, chapsticks, word puzzle books, pens, candies, water bottles & our pictures.

Summitview students and staff recently collected change for Hunger and Homelessness Week. We collected $460!! $230 to the New Hope Shelter and $230 to Human Services. We hope everyone had a peaceful Thanksgiving.

Hello SV Families! Today is our Superhero Day. We want to thank our students for doing a great job on our November fire drill and for being patient with our water issue yesterday. Also, we want to thank all of our families (K and 1) who attended our lunch yesterday. Today is the last day of school until the students return on Tuesday, November 28. We hope everyone has a peaceful Thanksgiving.

Hello SV Families. We experienced discolored water today from our faucets and water fountains. We contacted the public water authority and were informed that there were no safety issues with the water itself, but sediment may have been stirred in the lines supplying the schools. Our maintenance and custodial staff plan to flush out the water lines in the buildings this evening, and we are in contact with the water authority should any issues arise.

Hello SV Families! We are having our Holiday Lunch today for our K & 1 students and their families. As in past years, families needed to sign up a week prior to the event due to our kitchen staff needing to properly prepare for everyone. If you are signed up, please remember to bring a valid ID. We are honoring our country's veterans today. We want to thank all of our veterans for their service and for keeping us safe in the greatest country in the world!

Hello SV Families! Tomorrow, we are honoring our country’s veterans at our annual ceremony at WASHS. The event is at 9:30 AM. Also, tomorrow is the last day for our families who have kindergarteners or first graders to sign up for our holiday lunch, which is being held on November 16th at noon. Every year, each one of our grade levels completes at least one act of community service to honor our school's motto (Service with a Smile). Our second graders worked with Operation Honor Card through Operation Gratitude this year. This program is designed to honor and show our Veterans appreciation for their service. https://www.operationgratitude.com/

Next week is Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. We will be collecting change to donate to the New Hope Shelter and Waynesboro Community and Human Services. Thursday, November 16th is wear red day at SV. Students and staff are encouraged to wear red.

We would like to thank Congressman Joyce and his staff for speaking with our students today. In addition to speaking with our students, Dr. Joyce donated books to our school from the Library of Congress. It was a great honor to have him visit our school.

Hello SV families, we just had a five minute internal lockdown due to a situation that brought a little extra attention to our office area. Everyone was safe and things were totally fine but we just wanted to exercise caution. The students were not aware of any type of concern and again everyone was safe.

Congressman John Joyce will be visiting our school today. We are thankful for his service and for him visiting our students.
