It's been 170 days since the last time we were together in the building. We are off to a great start for 2020-21! #BoroStrong #SVsharks

Hello Summitview Families, This message includes several pieces of important information as we prepare for the first day of school.
1. To assist learners who may not know where their classroom is located, learners are encouraged to wear clothing based on their grade level’s new project team colors. Kindergarteners should wear yellow, first grade should wear orange, second grade should wear green, third grade should wear blue, fourth grade should wear purple, and fifth grade should wear red.
2. We are continuing to issue car rider tags for the 20-21 school year. If your child will be a car rider, even if only on an occasional basis, please sign up for a tag using this form. https://forms.gle/h3R1Ffu9THQLo4uWA Once you have completed this form, a number tag will be issued to your family. Car tags can be picked up at the Summitview office during school hours. Additionally, Mrs. Davenport will be outside near the side parking lot on the first day of school to pick up your tag. Please drop your child off following the typical format and then park in the side parking lot to get your tag.
3. Procedures for morning arrival and afternoon dismissal can be found here - https://5il.co/kbdc
4. Information about Remote Learning Days (Sept. 2, 16, 23, 30): -Teachers will be posting material and activities for learners to complete on Wednesdays in their individual Google Classrooms by 9am that morning.Â
-From 9-9:30, learners are invited to join a live morning meeting with their teacher and class and preview the expectations for the day. This meeting will be recorded and posted into the Google Classroom for those who are unable to access it live.Â
-Learners will then work at their own pace throughout the day to complete lessons and activities in the Google Classroom.Â
-From 2:30-3:30, teachers will be available for office hours to help any learners or families who have questions about the work for the day or need support. A link to access virtual office hours will be posted in Google Classroom.
-All Wednesday work will be due that evening by 8pm.Â
-Please note that ALL assigned work must be completed and turned in for learners to be counted as “present” for attendance purposes. If your child is having problems completing the work, he should attend office hours for the teacher or email the teacher directly outside of those hours for assistance. If work is not completed and there is no communication with the teacher, the child will be marked absent.

IMPORTANT INFO FOR CAR RIDER FAMILIES: Â
Summitview began utilizing number tags for car rider families last year to assist in keeping the pick up live moving and for the safety of our learners. Number tags should be used by families who plan to come through the line to pick up their child, or families who choose to park in our side lot and walk up to get their child. Number tags are encouraged, even if your child is a car rider on an occasional basis.
Â
New number tags will be given to car rider families this year. It is our goal that all families have a new car rider number for the first day of school, Monday, August 31. Families who need a number tag should complete the Google Form linked to this message today though Wednesday, August 26th. Tags can be picked up at Summitview during regular school hours of 8:00 am through 4:00 pm.  https://forms.gle/h3R1Ffu9THQLo4uWA If you don’t have access to a device to complete the Google Form, please visit the Summitview office during normal school hours to complete a paper version of this form. #SVsharks

Hello Summitview families! We’ve been getting some questions about masks so the elementary principals put together this video of do’s and don’ts when it comes to wearing a face covering at school. Please keep in mind that Governor Wolf’s order in July mandates masks or face coverings so all learners will need to wear one upon arrival to school each day.

WASD Elementary schools have utilized a Social-Emotional Learning program called Project Team (TEAMology) for the past several years. Teamology is offering some resources for families this summer, including free webinars for parents. If you are interested, please visit https://teamology.team/familysel/ for more information.Â

During this evening's WASD Board of School Directors meeting, the Board voted on and approved an additional open enrollment opportunity specifically for Summitview learners entering 4th grade in the 2020-21 school year (3rd grade learner during the 2019-20 school year).
If your 3rd grade child was scheduled to attend a different elementary school next year for 4th grade, and your family can provide daily transportation, you may request open enrollment for the 20-21 school year to remain at SV. If you would like to take advantage of open enrollment, please put your request in writing, either via email sent to me, diane_mccallum@wasdpa.org or by letter dropped off at Summitview, before 4:00 pm on Monday, June 15. Please note that the Summitview office is closed on Friday, June 12. You will receive an email back from me to confirm your request within 24 hours of receipt.
Please direct questions to Dr. McCallum via email for the quickest response.

2. There are several learners who still have items at school. Please contact Mrs. Ebersole via email - pam_ebersole@wasdpa.org to set up a time to pick these things up ASAP. Â
3. Many learners still have district materials, such as library books, 100 book challenges, classroom books, and band music. Please return these items to the school office as soon as possible. Mrs. Ebersole will be in the office next week, Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Please note that the Summitview office will be closed Monday, June 15 through Tuesday, July 7. During that time Mrs. Ebersole and Dr. McCallum will be available through email as needed.
