WASHS is offering a new dual enrollment course this year through a partnership with the University of Pittsburgh - Intro to Human Nutrition. Mrs. Kipe, a member of our Family Consumer Science Department, completed the required training to instruct this course at WASHS, allowing students the opportunity to earn 3 U of Pitt credits at a discounted rate!
Pictures are from a recent lab about the Digestive System - Students used yarn to visualize the size of the human digestive system and then common household materials to simulate the movement of food through different organs.
Intro to Human Nutrition is available to students in grades 11 or 12 - see your counselor if you are interested in learning more!

Good luck, Maidens!

We had a busy start to our day - whole-school assesmbly to review school expectations, safety reminders, respectful interactions with peers and staff, the importance of daily, on-time attendance, and doing one's best academically. We then took advantage of this beautiful weather to complete our January fire drill before proceeding with classes following a two-hour delay schedule! (Note: photo taken before assembly began.)

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the venue for the Winter Formal on Saturday, January 20 has been changed. The Winter Formal will now be held in the WASHS cafeteria from 7 - 10pm. Students should enter from the back parking lot and present a pre-purchased ticket to gain admittance to the dance.
We thank the Class Advisors, Mrs. Arestad, and WASD custodial/maintenance department for working quickly on this venue change so Formal could go on as scheduled!
