WASHS

Parent Forum for Course Selection - Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 5:30-6:30 pm

We are nearly halfway through the school year and the high school staff is beginning preparations for next school year and to welcome the Class of 2026 to WASHS for the 2022-23 school year!

The first item we need to complete in preparation for next school year is course selection. This is the process where your child, in consultation with their family, current teachers, and other school staff, choose the classes they would like to take in ninth grade.

I have scheduled a Parent Forum to discuss course selection on Wednesday, January 19 from 5:30-6:30 pm in the high school auditorium. This is intended for families of current 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. The meeting will take place before this information is formally shared with your learners in school by our school counseling staff.

During this forum, Mrs. Kopco and Dr. McCallum will give an overview the course selection process, review the programs and opportunities at WASHS, and share a draft of the course selection guide. The guide is in draft form because it is due to be approved at the January 25 meeting of the WASD Board of School Directors.

Because the course selection guide is in draft form, we will NOT be providing printed copies. Rather, we encourage families to bring a smartphone, tablet, or Chromebook to view the draft electronically. We will also display the guide via projector. Families will have the opportunity to ask questions following our presentation. We also encourage you to submit questions, either about course selection or general questions about WASHS, by completing THIS Google Form.
