On Saturday, April 25th, both the WASHS and WAMS Science Olympiad teams competed in the PA State Science Olympiad Tournament against the other 35 qualifying school districts at Penn State, Altoona Campus. It was a day filled with highly advanced competition across all areas of science, technology and engineering with a total of 46 different events taking place for students from 6th to 12th grade.

The WAMS team earned medals in the following four events, with Brody Hill, Cade Burgan and Aiden Guo medaling in TWO events!

  • Anatomy and Physiology - 6th place - Aiden Guo and Nathan Lininger

  • Circuit Lab - 8th place - Brody Hill and Cade Burgan

  • Solar System - 10 th place - Brody Hill and Cade Burgan

  • Experimental Design - 10th place - Aiden Guo, Gabriella Curry, Tara Dulaney 

The WASHS team did not earn any medals in their inaugural trip to states, but the following four teams did very well:

  • Dynamic Planet - 13th - Will Stein and Izzy Bupp

  • Anatomy and Physiology - 14th - Maycie Bitner and Brenna Hollingsworth

  • Codebusters - 14th - Jayden Guo, Caiden Shacreaw, Jonathan Pan

  • Designer Genes - 15th - Nevaeh Debrick and Maycie Bitner
