Good afternoon, WASD Families.

As a reminder, the first day for students returning to our schools is August 31st.  I ask for your cooperation and patience as we work through this coming school year.  Please keep a couple of things in mind.

  • All student bus and route assignments will be available in the Sapphire in the community web portal by Monday, August 24th.
  • We anticipate a larger than normal amount of traffic to our schools.  Please be patient.  We have reached out to our local police about the situation.
  • Parents who have enrolled with the WASD Hybrid Learning Model will be receiving a welcome letter with information via e-mail on Thursday, August 20th for learners K-8.  Due to the positive response to this program, building principals will be making changes to homerooms or teams.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we continue develop this First Choice option for our learners.
  • Families, we need your partnership now more than ever to make our full return to school successful.
  • Please check your child daily for symptoms as fever, chills, sneezing, coughing, fatigue, sore throat, muscle or body aches, headache, nausea, and/or difficulty breathing.  If your child shows these symptoms, keep him or her home.  We ask you to please do not send your child to school sick.
  • Students, staff and visitors are required to wear facemasks or face coverings throughout the day.  Face shields worn on one’s head or around the neck or ball cap visor shields may be worn if someone cannot wear a facemask due to a medical reason.  If your child has a medical reason and cannot wear a face shield, you must provide the school medical documentation and the development of a 504 Plan is required with your child’s school.
  • Students must wear a facemask or face covering while at a bus stop, to board a bus, and while on the bus ride to school.
  • I am planning to do regular updates to provide families, staff and the community any confirmed cases of COVID-19, which occur in WASD.

For WASD to be successful in our return to school, I ask you to work with us through these trying times.  If we can navigate through these challenges, we can have a great school year.

Thank you, and please stay healthy and #BoroStrong.
