Good Afternoon,

Tomorrow is the last day of the school year and planned instruction.  We closed our schools on March 16th, and had two weeks of no school, two weeks of Enrichment, and started Planned Instruction after the Easter break.  It has been a journey for all of us.  WASD has a long way to go to be good at online learning, but we are working that direction.  We are preparing now to have a cyber-charter option in place by the beginning of the school year.

In addition, please check the portal for your child’s report card. Report cards will be posted on the community web portal by June 3rd.  We will not be distributing hardcopy report cards.

I want to thank our learners and families for enduring this journey.  No one expected this disruption, but we all had to go through it.  It shows we are truly #BoroStrong.

I would also like to congratulate our Class of 2020.  I apologize that your last year has been so different.  In honor of your achievement, I have directed our staff to turn on the high school stadium lights from 7pm to 10pm Friday night—the original night you were to have your graduation ceremony.

School will be in session next year and buildings will be open, but we just do not know what that will look like right now.  The PA Department of Education and other organizations are working on guidance for re-opening schools.  There will be options.  It will be WASD’s intent to provide options that best fit the needs of our learners and families.

You will receive other announcements and possible surveys this summer to provide information and guidance for the next school year.  We apologize for any of our mistakes and confusion that may have occurred during the last two and a half months.  It is our goal to improve the educational service.

Again, thank you for working with us through this challenging time.  Just know, WASD will continue to improve in order to help our students realize their First Choice and become every one’s First Choice.

Thank you, have a great summer, stay healthy and #borostrong!
